Ingredients
Scale
- 5 Ounce(s) melted butter
- 2 Cup(s) milk
- 1 Tablespoon(s) yeast
- 1/2 Cup(s) sugar
- 1/2 Teaspoon(s) salt
- 5 1/2 Cup(s) flour
- 1 egg yolk
Directions
- Melt butter and heat milk to 98 degrees. Mix in the dry yeast (2 packages, or 1 tblspoon). Mix in sugar, salt and 5 cups of the flour (leave half a cup for later). Once mixed, put aside for 45 minutes (covered) to raise.
- Need the dough with the flour until good (non sticky, but not too flowery) consistency. Cut the dough in half, roll each half into a thin (1/4" or thinner) rectangle. Spread soft butter on the bread, sprinkle a good amount of sugar and cinnamon (but not too much cinnamon!!). Roll into a long roll, and cut into 1" thick slices.
- Place each slice in a large paper wrapper, brush a liberal amount of beat egg yolk on each roll, sprinkle with "pearl sugar". Let the rise again (45 minutes) under cover, and bake 5-8 minutes on 450 degrees.
