- 5 oz melted butter
- 2 cups milk
- 1 tbsp yeast
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 5 1/2 cups flour
- 1 egg yolk
Filling & topping
- Soft butter
- Sugar
- Cinnamon
- Pearl sugar
Directions
- Warm butter and milk to 98°F.
- Stir in yeast, sugar, salt, and 5 cups flour.
- Cover and let rise 45 minutes.
- Knead in the remaining 1/2 cup flour until soft and not sticky.
- Divide dough in half and roll each half into a thin rectangle.
- Spread with soft butter and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll into long logs and cut into 1-inch slices.
- Place in paper wrappers, brush with egg yolk, and top with pearl sugar.
- Cover and rise again for 45 minutes.
- Bake at 450°F for 5–8 minutes.
