2 Cup(s) short grained rice
4 Cup(s) water
8 Cup(s) whole milk
1 stick cinnamon
1 Pinch(s) salt
Optional Ingredients:
2 Tablespoon(s) sugar Add to shopping list
Boil rice with water, and a pinch or two of salt. When rice is cooked, add milk and the cinnamon stick, and let it simmer on low heat for 30-45 minutes. The porridge should be creamy and fairly thick (but not too thick). For extra creamy rice, substitute a little of the milk with half-and-half.
Serve with cinnamon and sugar, and milk.
This recipe is easy to adjust, the proportions are 1 unit of rice to two units of water to 4 units of milk. (I usually make about 1 cup of raw rice, which is good for 3 people, maybe 4 if some are kids). The ratios are my own, and they are close enough to the "real deal", and are easy to remember.
